OS .25LA control line stunt engine
Just a test run of my OS .25LA that I’ve converted from RC to control line. This engine was once in my Ringmaster until I crashed it early this year, used to run with the RC carb locked open. Changed to an Enya venturi and needle valve, seems to run pretty happily.

PAW .35 Diesel engine first start

Brand new PAW .35 Diesel engine first start. 11x8 Top Flite prop. Fuel is a blend comprised of 30% castor oil, 35% kerosene, 33% ether and 2% amyl nitrate. After some fiddling it started very easy. I left it running a touch rich for this run. I’ll gradually lean it out as it breaks in.

Decided to change the muffler on my 2003 Hyosung GT250 Comet. Brought a cheap slip on from AliExpress. Once the old one was removed I cut the factory mounting off so as to slide the new one into place. I decided to keep the baffle in as it was a little noisy without. Took it for a good ride, it sounds awesome. The new muffler is much less restrictive, the bike has better mid range and top end p...

    Seems I'm a bit late to this party, but I don't think you had enough pumps on the bottle. I could be wrong. Hard to see the blue flames in daylight. Just didn't sound like it was going full steam to me. I've run mine on both and don't see any difference except kerosene will last a bit longer with the slightly smaller jet in the kero generator. I silver soldered a coil of solid copper wire to a petrol generator to see if I could run kerosene without changing the generator. It worked fine on high and medium flames with great high end output, but wouldn't simmer on low for long before the flames started turning yellow and sooting. I feel that a little deflector to concentrate the heat on the generator would solve that, but I no longer have time to play with this stuff as I'd like to. Petrol is available about everywhere and it always works. White gas is my favorite as spills and leaks just evaporate and don't leave residue or smell. These are GREAT little stoves. If you keep the pump oiled, take care of the hose and don't bend it in ways it doesn't want to be bent, it'll last a couple of lifetimes. An o-ring or two every 5 or 10 years is about all the maintenance you should have to worry about. Brilliantly simple to operate and reliable as hell. Though not heavy by any means, it's not ultra light for those who count every gram in their packs. But the low center of gravity and adjustable, wide feet make a very stable, level cooking surface just about anywhere. I made a wind screen out of an old coffee can about 3 inches tall that extends up over the stock ring about 2 or so inches. I slit it vertically and rolled it a little small so it would cling and hold itself by friction for smaller pots. Makes a huge difference in boil times, but only works with small pots like the one you used here. You can drop, dent, and crush these and straighten them out with a pair of pliers in minutes and work like new. They also made models to run on propane. Same stove otherwise. Anyway, I highly recommend these stoves.

    These are great little lightweight(for their time), powerful stoves. Great low profile design for a nice, stable base. The adjustable leg for leveling is simply genius. The only weakness is the not-so-flexible-and-way-too-short fuel line, with its crimped ferrules. Somewhere in Oklahoma, during a field exercise in the Army many years ago, I was brewing some coffee on one of these next to my launcher when we received a fire mission. Figured the coffee would be ready when we got back so I set it to simmer and off we went. Before we were done reloading, we received orders to move to a new location. Legend has it that coffee could still be simmering in that field today!! .......... If anyone at Ft. Sill found it, please let me know. Haha! That'd be around 1998-99

    • @johnsmithfakename8422
      @johnsmithfakename8422 Рік тому

      That is debatable and it also depends on the application. If you use the stove a lot then pump gas might be the better option. If you use the stove incrementally then white gas is the better option. If you are a clean freak then white gas is the better option. White gas and pump gas are in essence the same thing, the difference is that White gas is lacking a lot of additives that pump gas has. The main differences are as followed. White Gas is around 50 octane. Octane is in essence the resistance to ignition. Pump gas starts around 90 octane. On paper this means white gas is easier to ignite, and if you tried to use it in an engine it would knock and destroy itself. Pump gas also has a lot of additives that make it a better fuel in engines but it also diminishes the shelf life. White gas if properly stored can last over 10 years, while pump gas needs a fuel stabilizer to last a few months.

      Getting a few of the MRH-90s would be great, I reckon we still need another 4 - 6 of them based off previous airframe numbers. The naval versions aussie has of the MRH-90 are the TTH version not the NFH version, so they aren't suitable to replace the seasprite at all, they don't even perform the same role nor have the right equipment to do ASW and ASuW.

    You're lighting this the way you would with an MSR or liquid fuelled Optimus, but the pump design allows for instant vaporization. Basically you let it rip right out of the gates with no priming and lots of pre-pumping, then add a few pumps after it's blue. Give it a go (outside) and you'll see. The instruction on the side of the bottle basically DEMAND 50 pumps, which seems outrageous till you realise the pump tubes are designed to do this and not do a classic priming. It goes from yellow flame to blue simmer in about 3-4 seconds.
